Craig Underhill is the firm's CEO. He has been a CPA for over 25 years and has been with BDCo since 1995. He uses his accounting and management experience to help wine and hospitality organizations manage their businesses strategically and effectively. He has studied strategic management, productivity and human behavior, and uses this expertise to help people, from executive management to hourly staff, be more successful. Craig excels at helping people ask questions that allow them to unlock their potential, solve problems and improve their performance. He is the board chair for Junior Achievement in Napa County and has led JA's expansion from 250 participants to over 4,000 annually. He holds a business administration degree from California State University, Chico and is certified in Strategic Performance Management. He is an active volunteer and trained handler for Aaron the Comfort Dog, a Napa celebrity. You can read Craig's blog posts here and hear him describe his vision for the firm here. Jennifer Cox was looking to create more client "light bulb" moments when she made the move to our firm. As a resident of the area, she was already a fan of the Napa Valley views and quality of life but wanted more time to enjoy it. Jennifer grew up in Massachusetts but found her way to the Napa Valley thanks to her college sweetheart (now her husband). The two met at a small college on the coast of Maine and together made the transition back to the West Coast shortly after graduation. She started work in the wine industry as a brix tester before moving into finance roles and then returning to school at University of California, Davis where she received her Master’s in Professional Accountancy. She quickly earned her CPA license and then gained audit experience in different firms, most recently as a benefit plan audit specialist. When she is not at work or traveling, Jennifer can be found appreciating life on her family’s mountain vineyard and farm and finding peace in the early morning views of the valley over a cup of coffee. Jennifer is a CPA, licensed by the state of California.

Guy Carl has been a CPA with BDCo since 1992 and a partner since 2005. He specializes in helping small wineries with tax preparation and planning, financial statements, forecasting, and accounting software guidance. Guy enjoys helping business owners understand how their businesses work and perform, and empowering them to be more successful. Born and raised in the Napa Valley, Guy holds an accounting degree from St. Mary's College. He is a past-active member of the Napa Active 20-30 Club, an organization dedicated to helping children in the community. An avid outdoorsman, Guy can often be found alongside a mountain stream or floating on a lake with a fishing pole nearby. Guy is a CPA licensed by the California Board of Accountancy.

Mattie Eagle is a graduate of Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa where she majored in History and Studio Art. After graduation, travel, and several applications of her entrepreneurial talents, she went back to school at Western New Mexico University to gain the accounting credits that qualified her to become a CPA. She was raised in Minnesota and now lives in Silver City, New Mexico with her husband and two children. She is a full-time member of the BDCo tax team. She particularly enjoys researching tax laws as they change in search of new opportunities to help our customers. Mattie loves supporting her customers as they take calculated risks, pursue the expansion of their passions, and become owners of their financial futures. An avid cyclist, Mattie is inspired by those who lead a “self-directed life” and enjoys applying her considerable talents to local sports, charitable organizations, and entrepreneurs who are seeking to build successful businesses. Mattie is a CPA licensed by the New Mexico Board of Accountancy.

Geni Whitehouse is a consulting team member with BDCo. She is the author of How to Make a Boring Subject Interesting: 52 ways even a nerd can be heard, which is available on Amazon.com. Geni has been named one of the 25 most powerful women in accounting by CPA Practice Advisor, one of the Top 100 Influencers by Accounting Today magazine, and one of the Top 25 Thoughtleaders in Accounting. Her primary area of focus is expanding BDCo's strategic management services. Geni is an instructor at the WISE Academy,where she teaches accounting concepts to winery staff and is a former board member of the Napa/Sonoma Chapter of Women for WineSense where she served as Education Director. She was a member of TEDxNapaValley.org and spoke at their event in September of 2011. You can read Geni's blog posts here. Geni is a CPA licensed by the Georgia State Board of Accountancy.

*Definition is here. When asked about her favorite part of her last job, Alex Castro was quick to respond "the view". An avid appreciator of both the beauties of nature and the essence of people, one of her favorite non-work activities is to head to the beach to watch the sunset. Alex is a Napa native with experience in the wine and sports training industries. Arriving for her first day of work in the middle of the Covid-19 stay at home order, Alex met the team online. Her upbeat energy and positive, infectious attitude are a great addition to our customer service team - both in person and online.

Brittany Burke is a Napa Valley newbie. After receiving a degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Sacramento, she decided to plant her roots here in wine country. With a history based in Customer Service and Public Relations, Brittany has mastered maintaining a cheerful disposition during the most stressful situations. We are especially thankful for that as tax deadlines approach! When she’s not the voice of welcome to our office or on the phone, you will find Brittany exploring the outdoors either on foot or “overlanding”, which involves a soft-shell camper and a lot of patience. Her favorite overland outing to date was a desert trip to Anza Borrego to explore the Badlands.

After earning a BA in Accounting from Golden Gate University, Leigh Meyers applied her talents to both public accounting and industry. She is an Enrolled Agent (EA) which is a designation issued by the IRS for tax practitioners who pass their examination and meet other requirements for ongoing training. She has worked with attorneys and vineyard management companies in the Napa Valley and comes to the wine industry with great perspective and an inherited appreciation for farming. Leigh says she was drawn to accounting because of her math skills which have always come easy to her. She works on the tax team and enjoys "untangling messes". She is an equal opportunity animal lover and has two cats and two dogs. When she is not at work, you will find her bicycling around the Napa Valley in what we can only imagine are the most stylish of outfits. Leigh is an Enrolled Agent, licensed by the Internal Revenue Service.

Ina Larot has more than 15 years of experience as a tax accountant. She began her career with 9 years at a Big Four CPA firm where she specialized in trust taxation before moving on to local CPA firms where she expanded her experience to include business entities and individual taxes. A fervent traveler and an excellent cook, Ina has a daily adventure navigating her way across Jameson Canyon and up Highway 29. In her spare time, Ina is working to pass the CPA exam, when she is not being (pleasantly) distracted by her granddaughter. Ina is an Enrolled Agent, licensed by the Internal Revenue Service.

Dave Brotemarkle has been a CPA for over 25 years and is the firm's founder and former managing partner. Now that he is retired, Dave has more time to apply his tax and accounting experience to both business and life issues. Dave has served as President of the St. Helena Rotary Club, and as Chairman of the St. Helena Rotary Winter Ball, and is a past chairman of the St. Helena Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the boards of the St. Helena Boys and Girls Club, St. Helena Public Schools Foundation, St. Helena Hospital, St. Helena Community Center and St. Helena Elementary School Parents Group. Dave holds an accounting degree from California State University, Long Beach. When Dave is not travelling the world and trying to keep up with his talented wife and two daughters, you might still find him in the office during busy season. You can read Dave's blog posts here.
