Farm worker payroll changes

Beginning January 1, 2012, local employers of contract farm workers are required to add new information to employee paystubs.

The new California law applies to vineyard management companies, but could also be interpreted to impact wineries who send their employees to property they lease from another landowner.

Under the law, impacted employers are required to show the legal name and address of the owner of each property where the employee worked during that pay period, along with the hours and (if applicable) piece rate units worked at each location.

Full details are available here.

Check with your software vendor or payroll solution provider to ensure compliance with these rules by January.
